USA Takes Third Place at FIBA Basketball World Cup
Canada Falls in Overtime Thriller
The United States defeated Canada 95-90 in overtime to claim the bronze medal at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Beijing on Wednesday. Dillon Brooks led the way for the Americans with 39 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander paced Canada with 28 points.
Canada led by 5 points with less than a minute remaining in regulation, but the Americans fought back to force overtime. In the extra period, the US took control of the game and pulled away for the victory.
The win gives the United States their third medal in the past four World Cups. Canada, meanwhile, has now finished in fourth place in three of the past four tournaments.
