Chicago Skyway: Toll Updates and Open Road Lanes
Open Road and E-ZPASS-ONLY Lanes
To reduce traffic congestion, the Chicago Skyway offers open road and E-ZPASS-ONLY designated toll lanes on most member roads. These lanes allow drivers to bypass traditional tollbooths and pay tolls electronically.
Toll Rates for All Classes
Tolls apply to all classes of vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, and tractor-trailers. The Chicago Skyway map provides toll locations and available plazas and rest areas.
Skyway History and Legal Settlement
Originally known as the Calumet Skyway, the Chicago Skyway is a 7.8-mile-long expressway connecting the Dan Ryan Expressway. A settlement between Illinois and Indiana regarding the placement of the Indiana Toll Road resulted in the construction of the Skyway in 1958.
